I’ve gotta say, it’s been a hectic few weeks.
Uni started again. I’m still not sure whether I’m happy with my courses or not. I’m probably edging more towards the not, to be honest, but I don’t really have much choice. One class is compulsory, the other two are just being done because I quite literally couldn’t find anything else to do. Either way, if I pass, it will contribute to my degree, so it’s all good. I’m at uni practically every day of the week, and my timetable is somewhat ridiculous. My latest class is at 5pm, my earliest at 1pm. My labs are at 10am, and my longest day is at uni from 10-6. (ACH!) Hopefully I’m not plotting murders by the end of the semester.
My work hours have eased up a bit. Okay, a lot. I’ve gone from almost 40 hours a week to about 15ish, which is kind of sucky. I should get some more even hours within the next few weeks. At the moment, I’m working two almost double shifts a week, rather than four single shifts. I trained up a new girl today, so hopefully I’ll be back to the single shifts once she’s used to everything. The main problem is that my coworker who does all our work timetables tends to make the timetable to his needs, not necessarily everyone else’s. My bosses know that it’s frustrating me and are working it out for me. Yay!
My knitting is going full-steam ahead! I’ve completed my ribbed scarf, and have moved on to socks! I’ve almost finished my first sock, and will update as soon as I’ve finished it.
Photography wise, I’m doing 365 days again. I’m slowly getting into the habit of picking up my camera each day. I’m also going to start blogging dinners and recipes too with photos. Hopefully it will encourage me to focus on better cooking and healthier meals.
Speaking of healthier, I really need to lose weight. Every time I see my reflection, I hate what I see. Starting Monday, Weight Watchers will be a go, and I’ll try and get to the gym every other day. My gym membership has been neglected ever since December, which is absolutely pathetic of me. I am looking forward to getting back to the gym though. I quite liked the feeling of doing the exercise.
Before I leave you with some photography, time for a shameless plug! Photogenic has been doing really well! Come and join us. We welcome all photographers, be you novices or experts!
Churr, I suck at blogging. Truth is, I just haven’t had the time! Aside from working almost full time, the only time I have for myself is spent playing World of Warcraft, knitting, taking photos and creating a new group blog with a few friends. Overall, i’m pretty damn busy.
So, I have a day off today, and chances are all I’ll be doing is cleaning. Not exactly the way I want to be spending my day off, but my apartment is a bit of a pigsty at the moment. It just doesn’t seem to stay clean for very long at all. It gets so dusty due to the construction over the road and the docks nearby. So not cool! Closing the windows doesn’t really help much either.
I’m really enjoying playing WoW at the moment. I’m level 48 and have been doing a lot of battlegrounds the last week or so. I’m getting pretty good at it if I say so myself! I also created a guild which has quite a few members already! My next step is to get to level 60 (I’ve never had a toon above 45 so i’m well on my way :)) and get my PVP mount :D
I also mentioned that I’ve started knitting! I’m really loving this too. It took me a while to get used to it but now that i’ve got the basic stitch down i’m cruising along. At the moment, i’m making a multi-coloured blue/teal scarf. Woo!
I’ll do a proper blog in a day or too, but for now I’ll leave you with some photos from the Auckland Botanic Gardens that I took last week!
I’m always a little shocked when it comes to writing dates in the new year. I get into a habit of writing the last years dates, and end up frustrating myself and getting startled when I once again realise that it is no longer December, 2007, but in fact, January 2008. To be honest, I have been known to write the last years date up until about June. Needless to say, it’s quite embarrassing.
Regardless, It’s good to be in 2008. I’m not sure how easy it will be to top 2007 in the awesomeness scale, but so far 2008 is looking pretty good. Aside from a hiccup at work which almost made me quit, I’ve now scored myself a payrise, a few more hours work during the uni semester week and i’m enjoying the time I have to myself a lot more. I’m getting really into my photography as of late, and have plenty of plans for photography trips, which I will explain later in the post.
My holiday was fantastic. Bali was just … Unbelievable. Such a culture shock. There were about 20 motorbikes on the road to every car, and crossing the road was almost a kamikaze mission in itself. Locals would follow you, begging for you to shop at their stalls, and kids went to their school on a Saturday morning to clean the place. The way of life itself was just completely different to the way we live. Slums aside, it was a gorgeous place to visit. Beautiful beaches, beautiful rivers, bush… Beautiful people, too.
It was great to be back in Sydney too. I didn’t realise how much I missed my family until I got back. Leaving was hard this time, because I was there for so long. It felt like I was back living there again. Saying goodbye to my brother nearly made me burst into tears. He’s such an awesome guy, and has really grown up in the past six months. I can’t wait until he finishes high school later this year just so we can see each other more. It was great to see my friends again too. Even though I didn’t have much time to catch up with them, we had a great time on New Years Eve. We all got shitfaced and ended up on my friend’s front lawn singing awesome, awesome music.
New Years Day I decided to drive down to my cousins’ place in Vincentia, down the coast of NSW. It was great seeing my cousins, aunt and uncle again too. I’ve spent almost every school holiday with them since I was 7, and so it’s always great to head back there. It’s like home to me too.
Anyway, so what does 2008 have to bring?
-I’m starting my second year of uni (Holy crap!)
-My brother’s doing his HSC (Holy Crap x 100! Poor kid :( )
-I will have been working at PF for a year come March!
-More photography! I’ve been talking to James, and we’re thinking of just visiting places this year for the day. I really want to head down to the South Island of New Zealand at some stage and visit places like Milford Sound. I’m also planning on visiting the Botanic Gardens a LOT, which is near James’s house so it’s always helpful.
-Getting my New Zealand drivers license. I may even buy a car with James.
-Weight loss. I plan on losing about 15-17kgs. Come next summer, I hope to have dropped a few dress sizes and toned up.
I’ll leave you with some photos! They’re under the cut!
So, some plans of mine fell through. I was supposed to be going to Rotorua with James and his family for the weekend, but due to some drama’s at work, I now have to work full time until I head to Sydney. The money will be good but I am a little disappointed and worried.
Just a photo from yesterday…
BTW, my eyebrows aren’t that small, it’s just that the hairs at the end of my eyebrows are really blonde. it’s weird.
