The past few weeks have been… Well… I don’t know. They’ve seemingly flown by. I’m working almost every day, and when I’m not working, I’m generally at James’s house. I’ve been doing a lot of knitting and website coding. I’ve not done so much photography over the last week, nor have I played much WoW, mainly because I just need a rest. I’ll probably get back into it soon.
I finished my first knitting project yesterday! It’s a multi-blue scarf about 5ft. long. I still have to weave the end pieces through and add some tassles, but it’s going to have to wait until I purchase an embroidery needle. It’s a present for my friend Manda. I’ve just started a new project: I’m knitting myself a Harry Potter Gryffindor scarf. Yes, I’m a dork. Shh. ;)
Speaking of Manda, in 2009, she may be moving all the way to New Zealand from the USA for university. I’m SO excited. It makes me so happy because now Manda has something to work towards. Previously she wasn’t very motivated, because her only option was an online course. Conveniently, University fees are cheaper over here, so she’s pretty keen on coming. I’m pretty keen on her coming too!
James had to go to the hospital today. :( He’s had some pain in his abdomen for the past six months, and after various treatments nothing seemed to be working. He went in for a colonoscopy, and the news was that there was no abnormalities, which is great news. The next step is to go back to the gastrologist to see what else he can try. Poor muffin :(
I watched the first half of the first season of Heroes the other day. I’m pretty freaking hooked! It’s actually a really interesting show. I’m also catching up on Lost, having watched the start of season 3. It’s a bit of a pain, most of the shows I enjoy watching are on the nights that work. I manage to catch the weekly episodes of Desperate Housewives, but as for Grey’s Anatomy (and Lost, which isnt too much of an issue, but if I didn’t work Wednesday nights for the last year, I probably wouldn’t be behind.. :o) I miss it every week. I’m sure I’ll catch it up eventually!
Anyway, time for a shower. I have work in an hour and a bit. :)
I’m so tired. Some super-shit went down at work a few days ago, causing two people to quit, and leaving me with work every day until I leave. I don’t mind the world, it’s good pay and it gives me something to do, but it’s the standing-for-six-hours-at-a-time type thing that sucks. My legs officially hate me (it actually hurt to sit down yesterday because i’d been standing for so long, but just as painful to stay standing. I can’t win.) Today I have to work a double shift (which = about $144 before tax just today alone - what I normally make in a week) so I can definitely ensure that I’ll be exhausted and in bed as soon as I’m home.
So, I leave for Sydney on Friday morning. I have to be at the airport at 7am. I don’t know what the fuck I was thinking booking that ticket.. maybe it was cheaper. Holy Jesus though, 7am. o_O; that means wakey-wakey at about 5/5.30. Piffle. On the good side, I’m already half packed because I’m not going to have a change between now and when James picks me up on Thursday afternoon (his house is closer to the airport, and saves his dad driving all the way past the airport into the city and back to the airport just to drop us off.) I really am looking forward to seeing my family again. I’ve been getting a little homesick the last couple of weeks.
James and I went birthday and Christmas shopping the other day. For James’s Birthday (he turned 21 on Dec. 1st) and Christmas present, I bought him a few shirts (about $100 all up) and I also bought him the Nokia N95 cellphone - his previous cell phone was really ready to bite the dust, and I didn’t want to get him a cellphone that could be replaced with better technology within a few months, so I got him the top-of-the-line N95. It’s a great phone, completely worth the $800 I spent, and he’s absolutely chuffed with it. Yay! James purchased a ring for my Christmas present. He spent way too much money on it, but we did get about 25% of the price off just by haggling with the guy. I’ll take some pictures when I go to pick it up tomorrow - It’s currently being resized.
Jenn is home with little Matthew! Good luck hon, and welcome to motherhood!
Well, I’ve got to go and get ready for work now. And pump myself with caffeine so I can actually wake up.
So, some plans of mine fell through. I was supposed to be going to Rotorua with James and his family for the weekend, but due to some drama’s at work, I now have to work full time until I head to Sydney. The money will be good but I am a little disappointed and worried.
Just a photo from yesterday…
BTW, my eyebrows aren’t that small, it’s just that the hairs at the end of my eyebrows are really blonde. it’s weird.
So, I had half a blog written this morning and for some reason proceeded to forget about it and close the window. Can someone say idiot? Yeah.
Anyway, I’ve been working quite hard lately. By payday (Wednesday) I should have about $200 in my account after tax (20%.. ridiculous.) which is nice. I might spend it on a present for my parents for Christmas. :) I’ll be working plenty of extra shifts between now and when I leave for Sydney too. I’m not complaining - I need the money at the moment after my splurge on my gorgeous camera.
So, I decided to join Sparkpeople.com to help me monitor my nutrition, exercise and weight loss. Unfortunately the site runs on American time (I’ve yet to figure out a way to change it to my timezone) so the day changes halfway through my day, but I think I’ll just end up adding things to my nutrition guide after the american “tick over” time, which is about 8pm my time, I believe. All the same though, I’m glad I finally found a site dedicated to what I’m trying to achieve. The community there is great and supportive too.
I’m heading off to James’s place in about an hour or so. I haven’t seen him in almost a week because of work - I’ve had to be in town, whilst he stays with his parents during the holidays. He’s picking me up relatively soon and I’ll get two days with him before I have to go another week without him again. :o I miss him a lot, but I’m used to the time apart. After all, we were spending months apart for the past three years, so I am VERY used to not seeing him for long periods of time. It doesn’t mean I miss him any less though, I’m just happier to spend time apart nowadays, because quite literally, I can see him whenever I want now for the cost of a train ticket or petrol.
Not much else to update on. I’ll leave you with some recent photos. :)
Night!
So the past week or so has sucked a fair bit. James has been quite sick with mysterious pains all over his abdomen and the like. He got so frightened at one stage, thinking it was advanced cancer. As much as I wanted to hit him and tell him to snap out of it, I didn’t - I played “Supportive Sewwy” and told him he’d be alright. He’s been to the doctor and had a whole heap of tests done, but so far no knews on what the problem could have been. Considering he spent Saturday night drinking with buddies, I don’t think there’s anything TOO wrong with him, but all the same, he has another doctors appointment on Wednesday this week.
About a week ago now, we both decided we’d go and see Chuck and Larry at the cinema, only to get there and find the place packed to the rim. Because we were waiting in line for tickets for 20 minutes, we missed the start of the movie, so we decided to see Die Hard 4.0 instead. It was surprisingly good. I enjoyed it simply because of all the computer geek stuff they threw in. Heh. The discussion in the car on the way home was so nerdy. “omfg that’s so impossible as if the united states would put all that technical information on the ONE server are they stupid!?” Yeah, we’re such nerds. :D
Work was such a pain in the ass last night. :( I started at about 5pm and there was already an issue with one of the computers - the cable connecting the monitor had been broken, so all we could see was yellow. Yay. Then the SECOND computer that we rely on for our deliveries stuffed up, and I spent about an hour battling with it (as our resident computer nerd..) only to give up and call the computer geek who set up the system. It turns out it was as simple as the computer not being able to connect to our server because someone had turned the firewall to “block all” - Grr.
Things got better until our oven shut down. Yeah. It died. *sighs* We had to give about $300 back on refunds and had a 40 minute wait time on pizzas. Lots of unhappy customers. A guy who ordered a $70 delivery was called by the guy I work with and the customer was just SO rude when H told him that the delivery would be delayed and we’d be giving it to him for free. He swore at H for about five minutes and cancelled the order. Poor H was close to tears :(
Customers suck.
The exciting news is that i’ll be 19 years old as of next Tuesday! :D The second most exciting thing is that a Lunar eclipse happens on my Birthday, and this time Auckland will be able to see it! *does a jig* - Hopefully the weather is fine because I’ll spend the night out in one of James’s fields, staring at the red moon. Wheee :D
*still has an hour and a half to kill at uni* eh.. off to read my book.
