I’m watching Children of Men right now. It’s a movie set in the future: All the worlds women are infertile, and there’s one woman who manages to fall pregnant: The story is essentially this groups desperate need to get this woman to safety, considering the world has quite literally, turned to havoc.

It’s quite a terrifying thought, really. If all women on Earth were to become infertile, it would essentially mean the end of the human race, unless we managed to find a cure.

Biologically speaking, it would be surprisingly difficult for all the world’s women to go infertile. There would have to be a serious virus infecting all women for world-wide infertility to occur. That being said, there is almost always variation in genes, so there is bound to be some genetic group resistant to such a devastating virus.

Still, the thought is damn scary.
