D for diet, E for Exams, F for Flying away

D for Diet…For as long as I can remember, I’ve battled with my weight. As a ten year old I weighed close to 55 kilos and was about ten kilos heavier than the average girls in my class. Things never really got any better: By year 10 I was 70 kilos and year twelve has brought around another 5 kilos thanks to the stress of the HSC. I’ve been telling myself for a long time that I’ve wanted to lose weight, but I’ve never really done anything about it (except in year 11 by trying Lite ‘n’ Easy, which failed miserably because the food was terrible).

The past few days I’ve been thinking about dieting. I might not start my personally made “weight loss program” until the end of August when I’ve finished my trials and majorwork, but in the mean time I’m going to eat healthy. I’m going to try and cut unnatural sugars out of my diet completely, as well as anything with somewhat of a fat content. My lunches will include fruits and veggies, and my snacks will consist of fruits or low fat snacks like museli bars. No more Chocolate, coke, pizza or V for Sewwy. Instead it will be aiming to lose 15kg by January 1st, 2007. Ontop of the changed diet, I’ll be exersising regularly, be it at the gym if I have time, or for an hour on our own exersise bike. Surprisingly, I’m actually looking foward to it!

E for Exams… My exam period starts tomorrow, but thankfully my first exam isn’t until Monday, so Sewwy gets a lovely three day weekend. It will be full of study, but I’m thankful for that because I need all the time I can get! My first exam is Maths, quickly followed by Visual Arts: Neither of which I’ve actually gotten around to studying. Eeep! Luckilly, they’re only trials and it doesn’t matter too much if I do terribly, because I can always make up for it by studying extra hard all the way up to the HSC.

F for Flying away… On the 25th of August, I’ll be flying over to Auckland for the weekend with my parents to go to the University of Auckland open day. My dad has finally realised how much I want to be over there for university (and for James) and he’s considering buying an appartment over there as an investment property (which could double as my accomodation whilst I live there.) I’m so happy that he has finally understood how much I love it over there and want to be there, because it’s a huge step foward. Now all I need to do is finish the HSC and get myself a place at the university and I’m set. I’m so excited!!!

Before I go, I have a big congratulations for Jennifer, who gave birth to a lovely baby boy, Ryan, last week!

I’m not sure how kilos are measured since I’m from the US, but I’ve always had trouble with my weight as well. :( Good luck with your diet!

Whaa? I’m sorry to say that but I’m 13 and I think ny weight is under 55 kilos.
Huh, anyway, good luck with your exams!

Ah, busy girl. Good luck with your diet and exams :) Thank God, God blesed me with a fast metabolism xP

anyway, have fun at Auckland. I wish my parents would support me when it comes to where I want to go to college, they dislike my taste in college.

Just get a lot of rest and drink lots of water. Auckland is in New Zeland correct? That sounds like fun. *hmm*

dieting is bad for you. *says my mommy* just join a gym like we did. its a lot less stressful.

Eep. While you’re trying to lose weight, here I am trying to gain some. I’m totally underweight, it’s scary. I weigh 85lbs, I don’t know how much that is in kilos, but normal weight is 110lbs or something. Eep.

Eh, I have weight issues as well and I admit I’ve done some pretty stupid things to try and lose weight. I guess if you plan on dieting just be careful and don’t take it to the extreme cuz you’ll regret it

Blah good luck on your exams..I start school again on August 14 so I’m not thrilled about that lol.

Aww lucky!! New Zealand!! My friend moved there.. *cry* really cool for the diet thing.. wish i could be healthy*headbang* lovely site! xx*heart*

I’ve tried one of those diets before. I guess I just wasn’t up for it as much as I though. But good luck with yours ^_^

Ew, exams. Good thing you get that 3 day weekend. I’d probably be stressing.

& Hope you have fun at the university! ^_^

Wow 15 kilos! That’s a lot. I had 71 kg 3 months ago, and I’ve managed to get to 66.5… but of course I can’t diet during finals. I got around 69, and then back to 67 now.

I just wish I had enough willpower to get to 60 at least. So good luck: I know how that feels.

Oh wow exams and exams. That’s weird that you need to have exams in every subject there. Here in Romania, we choose only 6: Romanian (written and oral), a subject from the classes curricular area (so mine was math… humanistic classes has history), then another subject from the same curriculum which you can choose from a couple (I chose computer science), an oral exam in a foreign language (english for me :) loved the exam), and another exam in a ubject not related to my curriculum (which was german for me).

Still, I’d die if I had had to sit an exam in chemistry. Always managed to just barely pass the subject.

So good luck with exams!

Sorry to hear about your weight problem. I guess dieting is good when you eat a lot of fruit and vegetables. But don’t forget that your weight isn’t everyhing!

Hope you did/do well in your exams! Good luck!

And thanks so much for all those comments ^-^’ Haha!

good luck with your exams! :)

Good luck with your exams and your trip! Happy travels :)

I always had a hard time with weightloss.. but it seemes that if I just cut my calories down to less than 1,000 a day, stay away from red meats and sugar crap (eat veggies and fruits instead), drink only water and unsweetened green tea, I lose 1lb a day.

Weightloss…allways a hard thing ^^ I think sport and healthy food should combined and than you’ll get thin (= And to only drink water…much water 2l a day!!! Good luck

I hope you get to go to uni with your man.. Mine is living in another country and the moment and I have to finish school, o_O
Go for the weight thing, seriously. I’ve been really overweight all my life and I went to a dietician back in Febuary and got serious about it and i’ve lost about 15 kilos (I think 2 pounds is about 1 kilo) but oddly enough I still havn’t dropped a dress size (which is driving me mental) but I feel soooo much better, and it really isn’t so bad once you get into routine. Just take it slow and don’t make unreasonable demands of yourself.

Good luck with the diet. I should probably start doing somwthing as well, just so I don’t look like I’ve just let myself go when I go back to school.
Hope you do well on your exams! And have fun in Auckland!

I definately wanna wish you luck in losing weight, anything to make you feel happier with your self is good.

You can also just try to be active more (such as running in the morning for an hour, or maybe fast walking). It helps a lot too. Just watching with what you eat isn’t enough. But it’s good to see your really motivated, so hopefully you’ll reach your goal! :)

I wonder if you already had all your exams yet or not, but if ya still got some to go, good luck! And if not! Hope you made them well and passed them!

Gravatar Icon

hope that diet goes through well. it sounds like a lot of work. stressful. but it’s good to know you’re looking forward to it. that way, you’ll enjoy it. yup! the work actually sounds like fun!. that’s awesome. =) good luck with your exams. study hard and everything will be just fine. =) take care~

Mmmmm… dieting. I think you’re going about it the right way- a person should lose weight from eating healthier and getting exercise, not from taking some diet pill or adhering to the next Atkins fad or something, because those methods just don’t work long term. I think you could make it really fun! Do you have a bike? I just started biking around and it feels very nice because you can get around quite easily and quickly, and while technically sitting down! Well anyway, good luck with your goals ;)

Gravatar Icon

*hmm* My philosophy on dieting is not a good one so I doubt my advice would help anything.:D But I feel you on thoes exams cuz I have lyk 12 to take? So yea, just hard and I wish you good luck!

I’ve alllways wanted an exercise bike. I really like biking but I live on the second floor in my building and it was always a hassle taking my bike up and down the stairs so it wouldn’t get stolen- then, one night, I left it outside my FRONT DOOR, up stairs, right directly in front of my door… it got stolen between 2 a.m. and 7 a.m. Can you believe that? : P Exercise bikes seem so much nicer.

i would wish you luck but I don’t think you need it. I’ll wish you commitment instead. I think you need to do something for around 21 days for it to become a habit, exercising feels really good when you’re done but it’s easy to forget the next day that getting through the crappy part leads to happiness : P So, yes. Good memory and commitment.

I’m happy to hear your dad’s coming around.

Hey. Hope the diet plan sticks. I’m about the same weight as you but I can never never diet. I love my food too much, unfortunately. I’m thinking of starting gymming (I seriously need to lose all that weight!) but with exams going on (yep, me too :P) I’m gonna wait for those to get over befor I start.

Best of luck. FOr both the exams and the plan. And yay for auckland!

Good luck with the diet. I hope that it’ll work and you’ll reach your goal weight by January.

Good luck with the exam also.
