Edit: I’ve added a new layout which interacts with wordpress to the very last inch. I’ll be adding the pages tomorrow, and editing the sidebar (i’ve got to get rid of those pesky dotpoints…!
Well, today at 1.06 AM (ish…) I turned 18. Yep. 18. I can now legally buy (and drink) alcohol, rent R rated movies, and hell, if I actually wanted to, I could buy my fair share of sex toys. I could get married, divorced, get a credit card and purchase land.If only I had the cash, right?
Just kidding! I had a really great day though. I woke up and opened a few presents from my rellies (which can be seen later) and then went to school and handed in my majorwork. My day was fairly bludgy: I got back a few exams and ended up only doing real work in maths and bio. All in all, it was fairly uneventful.
My trip to Auckland was absolutely wonderful. I had a great time with James (We watched High School Musical!) and on Saturday we visited the university (I am very set on a Science degree majoring in Biology and a post-grad of Forensic Science) and then looked at a few apartments. Dad is very set on an apartment in the Scene 3 apartments, which he’s going to put an offer on later. It’s lovely. It’s not exactly the one seen in the image, but they’re all fairly similar. Saturday evening our families went out for dinner at the Skytower, which was really nice.
Anyway, enjoy the photos - They’re under the cut!
Hey everybody! You’re looking at sewwy.com in a new fashion right now! Well, not really, but Wordpress has had some major overhaulin’. I’ve upgraded Wordpress from 1.2 to 2.0 (and having to upgrade to 1.5 in between) and have fiddled around with the themes a bit. You’re viewing sewwy.com with the original layout I had up, but as soon as I have time to code the new layout I made so it will adapt to all features of wordpress, unfortunately you’re just stuck with the blog side of Wordpress. I’m looking foward to using features like the pages option that wordpress now has, and the themes! Wow! it all excites me.
There are a couple of bugs, like the fact I can’t figure out how I can not make my categories list as dot points in blog entries, but I’ll figure that out over the week. Right now I have to go pack, because tomorrow morning we are leaving for Auckland so we can check out the University of Auckland! I’m so excited!
Will do a proper blog when I return on Sunday night :)
Edit: Yay :) James fixed the categories problem.

There’s exactly 39 days until I finish year 12. Thirty-Nine days. Holy crap. It’s crazy how fast time really does fly when you’re preoccupied. I still remember in year 10, picking my subject choices for years 11 and 12, and shuddering at the thought of doing my HSC. I still shudder profusely at the thought of doing my HSC, but the difference is that after 2 whole years of study to prepare for it, I’m kind of looking foward to it. Sure, i’m scared shitless, but it’s an incredibly exciting prospect for me. I look foward to my future the most. I’ve finally decided that I want to do a Bachelor of Science or a Law/Sci conjoint, particularly focussing on Biology, Bioinformatics and Genetics. I’d love to become a forensic scientist, to tell you the truth :)
My trial examinations are all over now. I’ve gotten 3 exams back so far: Maths (88.5%), Biology theory (80%) and Biology practical (69%). I’m reasonably happy with them, but still have quite a bit of work to go until I’m completely satisfied with my results. I’m not looking foward to getting my Art and English exams back, because I don’t think I did particularly well in them.
My majorwork is finished! It’s all finished! The first (internal) assessment of it is today. My teachers are marking the A4 copies of the vexels, whilst my friend’s father prints the large, final copies for me. I’m excited, but petrified at the same time. Over 200 hours of work went into these vexels, and i’ll be absolutely devistated if I don’t get a good mark.
I have a new obsession: Lost! - I watched the first season on DVD over the weekend and now I am absolutely hooked! I can’t wait for the second season to be out on DVD. I’m also looking foward to Season 1 of Veronica Mars on DVD and season 2 being aired on TV. :)
Thank you for the comments, everyone! I’ll try to blog again sometime soon: Hopefully after my trip to Auckland on the weekend :D
D for Diet…For as long as I can remember, I’ve battled with my weight. As a ten year old I weighed close to 55 kilos and was about ten kilos heavier than the average girls in my class. Things never really got any better: By year 10 I was 70 kilos and year twelve has brought around another 5 kilos thanks to the stress of the HSC. I’ve been telling myself for a long time that I’ve wanted to lose weight, but I’ve never really done anything about it (except in year 11 by trying Lite ‘n’ Easy, which failed miserably because the food was terrible).
The past few days I’ve been thinking about dieting. I might not start my personally made “weight loss program” until the end of August when I’ve finished my trials and majorwork, but in the mean time I’m going to eat healthy. I’m going to try and cut unnatural sugars out of my diet completely, as well as anything with somewhat of a fat content. My lunches will include fruits and veggies, and my snacks will consist of fruits or low fat snacks like museli bars. No more Chocolate, coke, pizza or V for Sewwy. Instead it will be aiming to lose 15kg by January 1st, 2007. Ontop of the changed diet, I’ll be exersising regularly, be it at the gym if I have time, or for an hour on our own exersise bike. Surprisingly, I’m actually looking foward to it!
E for Exams… My exam period starts tomorrow, but thankfully my first exam isn’t until Monday, so Sewwy gets a lovely three day weekend. It will be full of study, but I’m thankful for that because I need all the time I can get! My first exam is Maths, quickly followed by Visual Arts: Neither of which I’ve actually gotten around to studying. Eeep! Luckilly, they’re only trials and it doesn’t matter too much if I do terribly, because I can always make up for it by studying extra hard all the way up to the HSC.
F for Flying away… On the 25th of August, I’ll be flying over to Auckland for the weekend with my parents to go to the University of Auckland open day. My dad has finally realised how much I want to be over there for university (and for James) and he’s considering buying an appartment over there as an investment property (which could double as my accomodation whilst I live there.) I’m so happy that he has finally understood how much I love it over there and want to be there, because it’s a huge step foward. Now all I need to do is finish the HSC and get myself a place at the university and I’m set. I’m so excited!!!
Before I go, I have a big congratulations for Jennifer, who gave birth to a lovely baby boy, Ryan, last week!
