Forgetfulness
ps: Despair visitors and other visitors, please take the time to read and comment on the previous blog rather than this one.
Yes! Sewwy.com has a brand, spanking new layout! I went for a really simple structure this time, but it was a bitch to code. Blaah. It’s all finished now. The links to the subpages can be found at the top right hand corner, above “Sewwy” - The content has been updated too. Hooray!
Today, mum decided to let me stay home from school: It’s the athletics carnival today, and well, there’s two things I hate about athletics carnivals: 1. Athletics, and 2 the cold, freezing wind that always blows through this time of year. Mum decided that it’d be better letting me stay home, rather than letting my cold get ten times worse from sitting in the cold all day. I suppose it was a good thing in the end, because I’ll be able to work on my major work vexels, and I’ve just coded a brand new layout for Sewwy.com. Hurrah! I suppose it was all good in the end for mum: On the proviso that I got to stay home, I have to take my brother to soccer training tonight. It could be worse right? I could have had to go to the athletics carnival… ;)
Speaking of the weather, it has been really cold this month. We got our coldest temperatures for May since pre-1990, I believe. It really was disgusting. Of course, I prefer the cold to the hot (It’s much much easier to warm up than it is to cool down. I could give you biological proof, but you’d probably want to jump off a cliff by the time i’d finish. ;)) but it’s not exactly easy keeping warm in our uniforms for school. Hopefully we’ll get our year 12 jerseys soon so I’ll have an extra layer to wear.
Anyway, enjoy the new layout :) Hopefully I’ll find time to blog within the next week: James is visiting tomorrow, and on top of that I have homework and assessments. Comments will eventually be returned!
Edit/ - I just tried to upgrade Wordpress to 2.0. Well, many Wordpress files tell me that If I delete certain lines, the sky will fall on my head. I didn’t delete any lines, but the sky did still fall on my head. Regardless to say, i’m back to trusty 1.2 (yes, stoneages!) until James can successfully upgrade it for me. :)
Last night I went to see The Da Vinci Code with my parents and brother. I thought it was a really good movie! :) I haven’t had a chance to read the book as of yet, but I’ve read all of Dan Brown’s other books to know what to expect. Ron Howard did a wonderful job. The only flaw to the movie, I’m sorry to say, was Tom Hanks. I’ve never particularly liked Tom Hanks as an actor, but as soon as I found out that he would be playing Langdon I knew he wasn’t the right person for the character. Regardless, the movie, in my opinion, was a success. Now all I have to do is read the book.
I religiously watch Super Nanny every Friday. I watch for two reasons: 1. Entertainment value and 2. The hope that I’ll gain some great tips for when i’m a parent. My mother just Loves to critisise every little thing that Jo Frost so happens to do, be it something to do with discepline (”Just tell them to sit in a corner, facing the wall, with their hands on their heads! It works!” My mother says) or to do with encouraging the children (”You don’t ASK the child what they want to do, you just tell them to DO IT” my mother also says.) Needless to say, I was restraining my self to scream at my mother “a fat load of good your ‘helpful’ tips did us, hey mum!” My mother really is quite hopeless when it comes to things like discepline. She doesn’t understand that it’s no longer acceptable to hit a child anywhere, be it on the behind or on the hand. She doesn’t understand that screaming at a child will achieve nothing. She really does think that she’s God’s gift to childcare, even though the moment both of us kids poped out, she wished that we’d go back in. She can’t stand being a mother, but she’s hell spent on telling people how to do their jobs.
I’ve made a mental promise to myself that I will not let my mother even try to discipline, order or abuse my kids like she’s done to me. It’s not her right. If my children need disciplining, i’ll do it. If my kids need to be asked to do something, I’ll do it. I’ve lived with her careless attempts at parenthood for 18 years, and I’ll be damned if I put my kids through that kind of torture.
I know it sounds particularly ridiculous as i’m barely touching the age of 18 yet, but I really want children. I have for as long as I can remember.
I have to tell you, there’s nothing worse than getting so into a fanfiction which you haven’t read for so long, discovered that there’s a sequel which you haven’t read
and then realising that it stops two chapters from where it’s supposed to finish.
Really, cliffhangers suck. A lot. I hate them with a passion. In all honesty, I wasn’t really expecting it to end in a cliffhanger, as it had been last updated such a long time ago: I just figured that it was finished.
But nope. I got to the end and wailed in dismay at the fact that I couldn’t finish the fanfiction that i’ve loved since about 2003. Regardless of the sudden lack of fanfiction to read, I’m happy in a way. Not only am I back into the fandom world full throttle, but I’ve managed to re-read one of my all time series, discovered that 90% of the final installment I hadn’t read, and that I suddenly am feeling the urge to get back into my fanart.
The past week has gone by really fast. Most of my time has been preoccupied by either school or the Paradigm trilogy. Surprisingly, I haven’t had any homework, although there are several things I should be doing that I just don’t want to. I’ve had a few exams back, and so far I’m pleasantly surprised.
For entertainment value, i’ve decided to list a “ten facts” or “top ten reasons” based on certain topics. For this, I need your help, so feel free to list an idea of which I should list my ten facts about when you comment (or, If you comment.) Today’s ten facts will be on Ten Reasons why I’d kill to be a witch - Yes, like I said in my last blog, Potterholism has taken hold.
Ten reason why i’d kill to be a witch
10. Mail postage is no longer required.
9. Cleaning couldn’t be easier!
8. Dealing with enemies or pesky siblings would be as easy as a Bat Bogey hex.
7. Who wouldn’t want a wicked job as an Auror or an Intelligence wizard ?
6. Watching Quidditch is a hell of a lot more entertaining than cricket or soccer.
5. Transportation becomes literally as quick as a flick of the wand. It’s sure cheaper than petrol, too.
4. Getting ready of a morning would be marginally quicker. So would make-up application and hair control.
3. English chocolate is great, but Wizarding candy is even better! (mmm… Blood Pops…)
2. You could actually blame your monthly cycle on that dratted lycanthropy
1. Harry Potter could be more than a fictional obsession ;)
Don’t forget to comment with your ideas about future ten facts/reasons :)
Uhoh. My Potterholism is back. I’ve joined a forum for the HP obsessed, just like me. Seriously, go and join The Burrow, cause it’s great fun.
Well, three of my exams are over. :) I sat mathematics on monday (dead easy, finished an hour early. :O) and art on tuesday. I sat the English paper today, but it doesn’t count to anything. Tomorrow is IPT and Friday is Biology: From then, i’m FREE! :)
This is just a quick update to let you know i’m not dead. :)
